When I first heard Sephora was launching a subscription box it wasn’t even an option, of course I’d try it! Unfortunately it was only available in a few states at the beginning so I put my name on the waitlist and have been waiting and waiting until the day I got notification I could officially sign up! Guys, you know I love Ipsy. I do. But Play! by Sephora has already impressed me thoroughly (and that takes some work!) and there’s not a question that I’ll be keeping this one too!
The Details
What: a monthly subscription box from Sephora
What’s in it:
- 5 deluxe samples, plus a fragrance bonus, all from the same brands they carry in stores
- a Play! Book with tips, tricks and advice
- a Play! Pass to redeem in store for a free tutorial and 50 bonus Beauty Insider points with any product purchase (made during the same store visit) BONUS – your subscription cost also qualifies for Beauty Insider points!
- A collectible makeup bag
Cost: $10 (includes shipping but doesn’t include sales tax if it applies in your state, I paid about $10.80 total)
Here’s what came in my first Play! by Sephora box:
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Kimchi
I love Bite Beauty products and this color is GORGEOUS. I would have paid $10 just for this lipstick!
Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon in Latergram
Another brand I love! This nude shade is going to be perfect for summer! I also love that my Play! Book has some tips on how to use both this lip crayon and the Bite Beauty lipstick!
Origins Maskimizer + Drink Up & Clear Improvement Masks
My mom used a lot of Origins products when I was growing up so I’ve got fond memories of this brand. I’ve tried some of their masks before (and loved them) so I’m so happy to see these! After practically bathing in sunscreen for the past few weeks I’m ready for some good facial masks!
Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial
This smells amazing! I’m already excited at the thought of drifting off to sleep tonight with this facial treatment!
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask
Another needed item, my hair could use a good conditioning mask after lots of days of sun, sweat and salt water. I’ll be trying this ASAP!
Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine
I usually hate receiving fragrance samples in subscription boxes because I’m very particular about the scents I like. I’m LOVING this sample! It’s sweet blood orange and bitter orange mixed with geranium and it smells so wonderfully sophisticated and sweet. I’ve been trying to find my “adult” scent (and moving on from the body sprays and light fruity fragrances of my teen years) and this could be the winner!
Verdict: I don’t think I could be happier with the May Play! by Sephora box. I expected a subscription box from Sephora to be fun, luxe and have lots of little fun “extras”, and they did not disappoint! One of the coolest features of this box I think is the interactive booklet they give you (see photo below). If you download the free Sephora On the Go app you can scan images on the book and it will launch videos showing you how to use items, tips, and more. If you’re not interested in adding an app you can just check out the Play! website and see the same videos and features. I love this idea! I’m totally on board for this subscription box. If you haven’t already signed up I would highly recommend at least getting on the Play! by Sephora waitlist now so you don’t miss out!
Just received my Play box too!! Love it and all the products. Much better then Ipsy and much, much better then Birchbox. I usually would give half the products to my granddaughter but not this time!
