Now, you know I love Ipsy. But, when I saw I could try Birchbox for $5, I just couldn’t resist! I just received the May box, so how does it compare to my favorite beauty subscription? Read on!

The box contained 5 large sample products to try. (I really like the box design inside!)

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle (Full-size, $21.95)
Since my hair is pretty fine I don’t struggle with too much tangle, but I do occasionally use a detangler so I’ll add this to my routine in the next few days and see how it goes! It’s supposed to condition, protect hair from heat damage and lock-in color. I don’t color my hair, but I’ll see how it fairs with the other claims!

Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion (Full-size, $16)
This stuff smells amazing. I feel super fancy using it. It kind of counters the workout clothes I’m currently wearing which do not feel fancy. (In my defense, I did actually work out.)

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 30 with Cellular Response Technology (Full-size, $19)
Another sunscreen sample to try! My daily moisturizer only has an SPF of 15, so I could use the extra protection!

Harvey Prince Hello Perfume (Full-size, $55)
I kind of like this! Actually, I really like this! A combination of lemon, grapefruit, forsythia and plumeria gives a sweet, but not too floral-y scent. I’m going to try this out for a few days!

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Black Eyeliner (Full-size, $16)
I can always use another black eyeliner! This is a soft pencil and it goes on really smooth. Another to add to the rotation for a while and see how it compares!

Also inside was a card introducing the contents of the box with a list of the products and how to use. Plus, there was a Kate Spade Saturday coupon for $25 off a $75+ purchase, so that’s a pretty good deal! I’m pretty sure I can use that easily!
So, how does it compare to Ipsy? These were all really quality products, though I am used to receiving full size makeup products in my Ipsy bags occasionally. I’m still on the fence so I’m willing to try it another month! To be continued!
Do you subscribe to Birchbox? Ipsy? Both? Tell me which is your favorite!
