June Birchbox Review

Since I signed up pretty late in May, I got the May and June boxes pretty close together! The theme of the June Birchbox is “Away We Go” and it includes lots of travel-size samples!

Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo, Conditioner and OI All in One Milk (Full-size, $24-28)
This smells soooo good. It’s a smoothing haircare line and is supposed to soften, detangle and tame frizz, so I’d say my beach trips coming up will be a good test!

Joie Folle de Joie Eu de Parfum (Full-size, $98)
I’m not a big fan of sandalwood, so this isn’t for me. Guess I can save $98 here! :)

LAQA & Co Sheer Lip Lube Pencil – Menatour (Full-size, $18)
So the bright purple shade kind of threw me a little at first, but it’s actually more sheer than I expected and really fun! It also goes on super smooth and soft.

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 30 with Cellular Response Technology (Full-size, $19)
I actually got this in my May box too! Luckily, I really liked it so I’m happy to have another! This is really light and not greasy at all, which is my top requirement for a sunscreen! I wore it outside for a good hour and a half (and didn’t reapply, oops) with no sunburn! **Update** Since I wrote this post, I received the following message from Birchbox:

I just love good customer service, don’t you?

Vasanti Cosmetics BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator (Full-size, $34)
This exfoliating cleanser is supposed to mimic microdermabrasion when used 3-5 times a week. I’ve never tried microdermabrasion but I would think that this is probably cheaper! (If it’s effective!)

Now having tried both Birchbox for a couple of months, I will say that I have enjoyed it. I really enjoy getting new makeup and nail polish from Ipsy, so that might edge Birchbox out a bit for me. I’d say if you can’t decide which to try think in terms of the products. With Ipsy, you’re going to get more drugstore priced items, and based on my experience so far with Birchbox, more makeup. With Birchbox, you’re going to get more high-end samples, which are definitely fun to receive, but for me, I’m less likely to end up buying them once I’ve tried the samples. If you subscribe to one or both, let me know which you prefer!
