It’s finally here! It’s Oklahoma Fashion Week! Who’s excited?? Events started yesterday with Media Day.

First things first- what I wore. I wanted to take it up a notch considering the company I was in- Governor Fallin, some OKC Thunder players’ wives, members of the fashion community, etc. I decided to try out Rent the Runway for the first time and was really happy with my selection! I rented this gorgeous blue number by Rachel Roy.
And I really did mean to get a picture of me in the dress but I totally forgot. If my videographer (aka, my brother) happens to have a good photo to use, I’ll add it!
Now, did I own a dress (or 10) that would have worked for the occasion? Sure. I really just thought it sounded like a fun week to try out Rent the Runway! OK, now on to business.
The scene when I arrived:
Lots of media, lots of 15 year old models walking around (looking like they were 25), and lots of really cool “fashion people” mingling about. Oh, and mostly dressed in black. (Go to any fashion event and you’ll see lots of black.)
My official media badge for all events:
Christina Fallin (daughter of Gov. Fallin), an organizer for OK Fashion Week, took to the stage to welcome everyone and introduce special guests General Rita Aragon and Governor Fallin. Both spoke highly of Oklahoma Fashion Week and what it can and does mean to the state. This is only the second year for Fashion Week here but this thing is only going to get bigger and better!
Stella Thomas is a designer from Stillwater who will be presenting her new collection Saturday night. There were several models walking around the media event wearing designs from past collections. I was able to speak to her quite a bit and I’m quite curious to see what she presents this week!

Since I am covering events for KFOR this week, I tried to speak to a few people to get a full view of the event: Aly, a model with Tabb Models, Christina Fallin, Stella Thomas, and Vanity Perkins, wife of the OKC Thunder’s Kendrick Perkins. I asked her what she was planning on wearing Saturday night and she wasn’t sure yet! I think she was going to check on getting one of Stella Thomas’s designs.
There are quite a few events taking place this week and I hope if you’re local you will attend some! If you do, be sure to look for me, I plan to attend them all!
