Yes, I’m definitely one of those people who love to celebrate their birthday. I try to drag it out as long as possible and take advantage of every opportunity to celebrate. Last year, I turned the big 3-0 and started a new tradition that I plan to continue. Instead of one of those “30 Before 30” lists people make of things they want to accomplish by the time they turn 30, I opted for a different kind of list (one without so much pressure!). I made a list of 30 things I wanted to do this year – things like find my perfect shade of red lipstick (MAC Red), invest in a nice bag (a gorgeous Kate Spade that is definitely worth every penny I spent), listen to new music every week, take an art class, go to at least 3 concerts/musical events (I went to 8!), etc. The important thing here was that they were all things I love and were FUN! While I didn’t check off every item, I’m cool with my progress and will just move those unfinished items to my 31 list! If you hate the added pressure of trying to accomplish big things to prove you didn’t waste your 20’s or 30’s, or whatever, I highly recommend this kind of a list!
A few “style-related” things I want to accomplish this year?
Be more adventurous! I’m going to try to step outside my fashion comfort zone a little more and take some risks!
Treat every day like a special occasion. Instead of saving outfits for “special” days or events, I’m going to bring out my favorite pieces just to run errands!
Fix my hair more. I’ve never been good with my hair (luckily, I have pretty good hair that doesn’t require too much maintenance!) but I’m going to attempt to do more with it – curl it more, try some updos, etc. Besides, if I ever have a daughter, she might appreciate more than a ponytail.
Take more pictures! While I don’t think I can get entirely on board with “selfies” (I feel a little old and uncool just typing that), I do love when other people post outfit pics, maybe I’ll give it a shot! (Follow me on Instagram for that! JKStyle1)
So, there you go! My Style Goals for 2014. Totally doable, so keep me accountable!
