I published this post back on December 20, 2013, but it’s got some great ideas (if I do say so!) so I figured it was worth updating and sharing again!
At this point, you’re running low on time if you’re going to place an order online and have it in time for Christmas! In case you don’t want to risk it, here are a few ideas for last minute gifts!
A Few of Your Favorite Things
I’m totally stealing this idea from some lovely ladies I recently dined with. (Thanks for the idea!!)
Put together a basket of your favorite things – your favorite mascara, shampoo, body lotion, nail polish, lipstick, tea, candy, etc. Not only will they enjoy seeing (and using) all of your favorites, but they’ll think of you every time they use something!
Gift Cards for Shopping
Kind of obvious, yes, but still a good last minute idea. Make it a little more special by slipping the card inside a cute mug or a pair of mittens. Don’t have a chance to run by the actual store? A lot of companies offer e-gift cards so your gift can be delivered right to their inbox! (Where they are also less likely to misplace it!) My favorites for e-gift cards? Sephora and Amazon.
Gift Cards for Services
I don’t know about you, but a gift card for my next hair cut, manicure, or work out would be a great gift!
Your Favorite Book
Buy a copy of your favorite book and write a note in the cover explaining why you love it and why you think they’ll love it too! (And yes, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is my favorite book!)
Low on cash but still need a few more gifts? You can always go the cookie mix in a mason jar route, but try something different this time, how about a homemade lotion or beauty product? This Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub is so simple to make and would make a great gift! (Just make some extra for yourself, it smells AMAZING.
Or how about a pretty vase or mug you decorate yourself?
Make Your Own Gift Sets
I love the idea of putting together your own gift baskets. Just pick a theme and go! Is your gift recipient a total bookworm? Grab a bookstore gift card, a coffee mug, throw blanket, bookmark and maybe even a book or two. For the domestic diva in your life? How about a cute apron, recipe cards or a cookbook, adorable kitchen towels and maybe a stirring spoon or oven mitt. Put the items in one in simple box or bowel and you’re good to go!
Make a donation in someone’s name to their favorite charity. They’ll feel good, you’ll feel good. And let’s face it, how many of us really need any more stuff? Since your gift-ee will more than likely be receiving a fair amount of goods anyway, go for a gift that gives!
Good luck with your last minute shopping!
