Fall Shopping: 2 outfits, 2 prices

Love this? Share it!

As a subscriber to many fashion magazines, I love finding inspiration in the pages. One of my biggest issues though is with the average price point of items. A photo spread of 20 different skirts and the average price is over $300? No thanks. And those are usually the “affordable” ones! While I think there is a time and place to invest in items, I’m also very aware that a lot of women either can’t, or don’t want to spend that kind of money on clothing. (And I’m one of them!) Especially on trendy items that you might only wear for a season or two!

So, what can be done when all the outfits you see and love are way out of your price range? You head here, of course! I love the hunt and finding the perfect items to make the perfect outfit is, well, more thrilling to me than it probably should be. :) Have an outfit you want to replicate? Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email with a link or photo! Let’s see if we can do a little fall shopping without spending a small fortune!

Let’s take your average fall outfit made up of tall boots, skinny jeans, a plaid shirt and quilted vest. While your typical magazine spread might give you these items:

I was able to replicate this outfit for a fraction of the cost! The key, don’t rule out any stores! You never know when Walmart, Target or Old Navy might just have the right item for your look!

outfit 2 1

Shirt // Vest // Jeans // Watch // Bag // Boots

And any look with leather or coated denim you know will be upwards of $1,000 in a magazine.

Just knowing where to look, and we can get this look for less than 10% of that price!

Jacket // Shirt // Pants // Necklace // Bag // Shoes

Trying to recreate some outfits on your own? A few stores to keep in mind: Forever 21, H&M, Kohls, Target, Old Navy, WalMart, Dillards, JC Penney, Macy’s, and Nordstrom. Happy hunting!
