Real Girls, Real Style – Jaime

Love this? Share it!

We’re jumping across the pond today to meet another lovely lady – Jaime! Fun fact, Jaime and I used to work together and we were part of a hallway with 9 people in which there were two Jamies, one Jaime, and one James. Oh, and two Toms. Just a little confusing!

About Jamie:

headshot

My name is Jaime Hodson and I grew up in some very small towns in southern MIssouri (that’s Missour-eee, not Missour-ah). I’m a Public Relations professional- I’ve worked public affairs at the heart of the oil and natural gas industry for several years in Oklahoma City and have recently moved to England to live with my fiance in London. I love learning about the global energy industry! I’m passionate about women’s rights and advocacy and I have a blog where I share all my life musings including healthy recipes, my travels and now my style persona!

Style Survey:

1. What was the last item of clothing you purchased?

Before I moved I purchased a high waisted skirt with a light blue crop shirt. My goal was to experiment with the cropped shirt style I’ve been seeing everywhere. I do love the outfit, but it’s not quite as cropped/adventurous as the other styles out there.

As a “Welcome to England” gift my fiance gave me this dome umbrella and these sleek Hunter wellies. I couldn’t have been happier and had been bummed when the first week of my time in England was sunny.

Currently I’ve been canvasing the stores for some wellies inserts which are like warm socks, but they fold over your wellies to stay in place. I’m torn between a quilted pair and one with a bit more color.

2. What is your favorite item in your closet?

My favourite closet items are my accessories (I can’t pick just one!). I like to purchase accessories when I travel because those items are so meaningful when I wear them again.

favorite items

This arrow necklace and matching earrings were purchased in a fabulous boutique in the artsy district of Cleveland when I spent the weekend there visiting my best friend. They were also purchased the same weekend I found my wedding dress so they’re extra special! I found this unique silver bracelet at a bazaar in Istanbul last spring. I love the noise it makes on my wrist and the amulet on the end of the bracelet is said to ward off the ‘evil eye’.  My psuedo suede black wedges are in constant use in my wardrobe. I purchased them incredibly inexpensively at Payless and when they wear out I’ll be on the hunt for the exact same shoe, I should really just buy two more pairs from Payless when they have their next BOGO, I wear them ALL the time! The camel suede wedges are Sperry’s and they go with some many outfits, they’re incredibly versatile! I love them with skinnies, leggings or tights!

3. What trend do you just not get?

I really love all fashion trends, but I have a bit of trouble keeping up with them all. If I was to single out a fashion trend I’m not yet a fan of it would be super tall platform shoes. I don’t know how huge, uncomfortable chunky heels really beat out my go-to wedges.

4. What’s on your shopping list?

Since I’ve moved to London I’ve visited some of my favourite stores: Zara, Topshop, Mango, I’ve been to the H&M flagship store too many times to admit on a blog, but I’ve yet to make a purchase. There’s an adorable crop top and skirt set from Zara I’ve been drooling over and the second I land my new job I’ll be purchasing it as a first day celebration outfit!

5. Where would you go on a dream shopping spree?

If I had a day, or week, or month to just shop I’d probably do it in all the unique and some of the more popular boutiques in London. I haven’t had enough time here to explore everywhere yet, but I’m sure i could put a shopping spree to good use!

Outfit of Choice:

daytime romper

One of my favourite day time outfits is this lace romper from BCBG with my Sperry’s wedges and some colorful tights in case the weather is kind of chilly! I pair it with a 3/4 sleeve navy blazer for the evening. I love the uniqueness of the outfit and I bet it would go great as a top paired with a structured skirt like this red leather one I have from Forever 21 if you wanted to mix it up.

kate spade accessories

At night my bling accessory is my sparkling Kate Spade clutch! My amazingly sweet friend gave this to me as a thank you for being a part of her bridal party. It’s pink and glittery and couldn’t be any more perfect! I love it!

Thanks Jaime! Love seeing your style and can’t wait to see how it evolves now that you’re living on another continent! What’s your favorite  (or favourite!) look of Jaime’s?  Share! And if you have any favorite stores she should check out in London, share those too!

You are preaching to the choir! I totally agree – but I’ve been slipping a little lately. I need a reminder and a nudge.
