Well, hello there. When I opened my laptop this tab was open and I took it as a sign from the universe to write something since apparently it’s been around five months since I’ve posted here! (I’m still posting over on Instagram and Facebook if you want to say hi there!)
I’m basically brain-dumping into this post, so bear with me…
So, what’s new with me, you say? (Assuming you care since you’re here. :) ) Mom-ing, working, family-ing, etc., etc., etc.
I’ve got one kid in school (I’m a Kindergarten mom!), one kid home with me (currently playing with Legos in the other room), and about six different jobs that keep me running. This is the reason I haven’t posted since April!
But enough about me, you’re here because you like clothes, need help with clothes, or something to do with clothes, probably. So, let’s talk clothes!

1. My new-to-me style
In the past year or so I feel like I’m into more casual items than I was a decade ago. Denim jackets, athleisure, and I even find myself shopping for cool sneakers occasionally. (Haven’t actually bought any yet, but I keep browsing!)
Is this my fashion mid-life crisis? Maybe, but I figure I’ll just lean into it and see what happens! I don’t know if I’m ready for sneakers and dresses just yet (though I think it looks cool on other people), but I’m definitely trying to figure out a good pair of “goes with everything” white sneakers. Do you have a recommendation? I obviously don’t want to drop a lot of money on this since I’m still a little on the fence, but I do have a shoe store gift card I need to use!
2. Denim jackets
Speaking of casual items, I’m a little obsessed with a denim jacket.
This is not my first denim jacket, of course. There are two hanging in my closet that are close to 20 years old, if not older! But, I never wear them. I’ve been more into blazers or leather moto jackets UNTIL…
A company (Able) reached out to Splendry/me about trying one of their items. Of the things to pick from I, myself, chose this slightly oversized denim jacket and ended up looving it. Who knew?
It’s THE ultimate denim jacket, feels like you’ve had it forever and is perfectly broken in. I’ve worn it quite a lot lately and even took it with me on my last trip to Long Beach – a great airplane jacket, in my opinion.
It’s pricier than I would have spent – especially since I never really wore denim jackets but I have to say that price is great for the quality.
But if a >$100 jacket isn’t in your price range (it’s not in mine!), here are a few under $50 options that are equally as cool!
- Jacket – I like the oversized look here, and you can’t really beat this price!
- Jacket – Almost more like a shacket (shirt + jacket), and it’s a good classic shade of blue
- Jacket – A great 90’s style that also comes in black.
3. Hair
I did something big (for me) recently. I got my hair colored!
The white-streaked golden-y dark blonde hair of my youth was sucked away by my two VERY BLONDE children and I’ve been left with this drab *brown* hair that just made me sad when I looked in the mirror. So, like everyday, haha.
I finally decided to do something about it and found someone great to give me back some of my “natural” highlights that I had forever. It turned out great! It’s super subtle but I got those streaks of blonde I grew up with and it’s just the perfect enhancement.
I’m also very excited to go back for a gloss and a big chop soon! I prefer my hair around my collar bone but am terrible about scheduling haircuts for myself. And who knows…maybe I’ll just keep adding in more blonde!
