I was all refreshed and ready to go last Monday and then Monday actually happened and my enthusiasm depleted a bit, haha. Perhaps a fresh Monday and a new month will get me back on track!
I spent the first part of the week worrying about Indy’s monthly blood work on Wednesday, and I had already resigned myself to knowing it wouldn’t be the great results we want, which is what happened. We’ll go back at the end of July to see if we’re getting closer to ending our Neutropenia journey. I do still think we’re headed that way, I’m just getting a little discouraged and tired of the waiting I think.
Between regular kid check-ups, monthly lab work and visits to the allergy doctor and dermatologist I feel like I’m at the doctor all the time. Which is kind of funny because aside from his allergies, eczema, and pesky neutrophil count, Indy is about the healthiest, happiest kid I’ve ever met.
He is not a fan of having his finger pricked (so thankful they can do this with a finger prick though!) and just as he was getting his band-aid, in walked a therapy dog. Indy loves dogs and the timing couldn’t have been better. We’ve been at the hospital another day when the dogs were there and I think this is such a wonderful service.
Other than that, I’ve been in a bit of a funk overall lately. I gave myself a little time off work the past two weeks to try and reset and I’m still feeling a bit restless and like I’m kind of floundering a bit. I was initially a little down about it all but I’m trying to put a positive twist on it and think of these feelings as opportunities to explore new things.
I don’t have plans to shut down either this site or Splendry or anything like that, I just want to be open to making changes or trying new things if they come along. If you’ve experienced a similar type of identity/work/life crisis, let me know. :)
For this week, I’m going to take some time to do of mix of things I want and need to do, like:
- Finishing a book I’m reading – I’ve Got Your Number by Sophia Kinsella
- Finish cleaning out my sewing/guest room and get rid of lots of stuff! I don’t do much sewing these days and we have guests coming this week so it’s got to happen!
- Write two more JK Style posts this week!
- Post daily outfits for #JKStyleJuly on Instagram – join me!
- Make a plan to make some improvements and changes to Splendry – if you’ve got some ideas, let me know!
- Do more face masks and paint my toe nails. :)
There’s my list, what are YOU going to do to turn things around this week?
Be gentle on yourself! Caregiving is hard work. Good for you for taking some time for self care and reevaluation.
