Friday Favorites: September 16, 2016

Confession. I’m currently writing my Friday Favorites post on Sunday, September 11. I’m afraid that once this week gets rolling I won’t have time to do much blog work so I’m trying to get ahead! We start shooting tomorrow and since the shoots are all at night (6PM to 6AM) my schedule is going to be completely flipped for the next few weeks. Considering I’m usually in bed before 10 and up before 6 this could be interesting…If I can get through the week without getting sick, falling asleep standing up or crying more than three times (I’m assuming I’ll cry at least three times just based on my normal emotional state) I’ll call it a success!

Now, on to Friday Favorites!

1. Fashion Week has come and gone (by the time you’re reading this!)

And once again, I wasn’t there. Last year I was able to console myself a bit that I wasn’t there because I was in Paris at the time, this year being in Whitney, Texas doesn’t have quite the same weight. :)

2. Tim Gunn speaks

And when he speaks, we listen. Right now he’s speaking about the lack of plus-size designers. I’ve said for years that there are two markets I think are severely lacking in the fashion industry – one for petite women and one for plus-size. He makes some really good points here and the main takeaway is that this is a DESIGNER ISSUE and NOT a customer issue.

I profoundly believe that women of every size can look good. But they must be given choices.

I really hope we are just at the beginning of a revolution in women’s clothing design. Everyone deserves clothing that fits and flatters and hopefully these conversations will eventually get some results!  I plan to talk more on this soon as this particular issue really gets me going! Stay tuned!

3. A Day in the Life

I love these kind of diaries or profiles where you learn more about the behind-the-scenes of someone’s life! In fact, if you tell me how you spend your day hour by hour I’ll be equally as fascinated!

Hope you’ve had a fantastic week!

It seems that designers may have extremely tall women on the runway, but for those if us who are next to 6 foot tall, it is hard to find clothes that will work at times. Can’t wait to see what you write about regarding this topic!

    1. That’s a good point!
