Happy Friday! So far my day has been pretty great, though it is only 9 AM. :) I started the morning with a bubble bath where I did not one, but TWO face masks (a clay mask followed by a sheet mask), put on real clothes (jeans, a sequin-y white sleeveless top from Zara, jeans, and mint green sandals), and am working in absolute and complete silence. Ahhhhhhh. Who knows what the rest of the day holds, but for now, I’m good. Here’s what’s on my Friday Favorites list today.
1. This sale
If you follow ANY fashion bloggers on social media you’ve been seeing talk of the big #nsale (Nordstrom sale) for weeks now! I will say, it is a really great sale, and what makes it so great is that this isn’t your typical end-of-season leftovers sale. This is a sale on BRAND NEW current and upcoming items. Seriously, brand new merchandise will be marked way down and then when it’s over (August 6th), prices go back up. I did want to share with you though what I bought during the sale, which is just a couple of items. (With affiliate links, meaning if you click on or purchase something from a link I include, I may earn a small commission, at no cost to you.)
Haddie Faux Suede Moto Jacket
I’m in LOVE with this jacket! It’s such a statement piece and I know I’ll be excited to pull it out this fall and winter! It’s marked down to $65 from $98 and while I normally would have ordered a size medium (sometimes moto jackets are small through the chest/arms), I’m glad I read the reviews where others had said it ran big. The size small fits me perfectly and I love, love, LOVE it!
Sports Bras
My other exciting purchase? Sports bras! I wear a weird bra size which means that bras are tough to come by as it is, and when you do find them they’re really expensive! These were on sale for around $40 which is pretty amazing! I won’t keep them all (I don’t think anyway), but since they’re different brands I ordered one of each to see which size/brand works!
2. This article
I read this article during my bath this morning, and I’ve got to say, there’s a lot of interesting info here. (It’s quite a long read, but entertaining throughout.) Are you familiar at all with GOOP, Gwynneth Paltrow’s lifestyle site? She gets a LOT of flack for the content they publish, whether it’s outrageous-sounding advice or ridiculously expensive items, but I’ve got to say, I have zero issues with her. I have a lot of respect for people who put in the work to accomplish their goals. So whether it’s an intense beauty regime or fitness program, GP’s not pretending she lives (and looks) the way she does by eating McDonald’s every day and buying drugstore face creams. The same with the items GOOP sells/advertises. GP and I are working on very different budgets, but I imagine there are other women who can and want to buy these same things. Good for them. She’s found a market and it’s working. (And all that hate she/they get is just fueling the GOOP brand more!) What are your thoughts on GOOP/Gwynneth?
3. This dress
Not Gwynneth-approved, but definitely Jamie approved, I bought this gorgeous pink off-the-shoulder dress from H&M last week. I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, but I think it’s SO fun! And what makes a fun dress even MORE fun? An under-$13 price tag! (With tax and shipping I paid about $18.) For that price even if the fit isn’t great for me I’ll probably keep it as a beach cover-up (for the beach trips I take approximately every four years), or just something to wear around the house.
