Friday Favorites – February 16, 2018

Love this? Share it!

Happy Friday, friends! Have any fun weekend plans you want to share? We have some family coming into town so we’ll be showing off Indy for the next couple of days (like he needs more attention). :) Speaking of Indy, I’m pretty sure babies don’t get sweeter than this one:

Indy James - JK Style
Indy got this new play mat and he was pretty excited about it!

He’ll be two months old on Sunday and while sometimes it feels like we’ve had him for much longer, (babies will do that to you), it’s also crazy he’s already that old! Maybe one of these days the flu epidemic will be over and I can actually take him places! That will happen eventually, right?

Sorry for that little Indy detour but let’s get back to Friday Favorites! :)

1. Walmart Winter Beauty Box

Do you get the Walmart Beauty Box? (It’s $5 and comes quarterly.) Here’s what just came in mine:

Deluxe samples of:

  • Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Ointment Body Spray
  • Dove Nutrium Moisture Pear & Aloe Vera Body Wash
  • Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion
  • Maybelline Matte Lipstick in Beige Babe
  • Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in Clear
  • Purifying Brightening Peeling Gel Mask

I’m really excited about the lip liner and all the moisturizers! My skin is SO dry right now!

2. Think Dirty (not that kind of dirty)

Think Dirty app - Friday Favorites - JK Style

Back when I was pregnant I had a prescription for an anti-nausea medication that was a cream you rubbed on your wrists and was absorbed into your blood stream. I’ll be honest, this was one of the first real realizations I had that the stuff I’m putting on my body is ending up in my body! I paid closer attention to things like lotions and makeup when I was pregnant and even though I’m not anymore I’m still concerned about what I’m putting on Indy and my body!

I’ve been using the “Think Dirty” app lately to tell me the ingredients in the products I’m using and how they rank on the “Dirty Meter” – carcinogenicity, developmental & reproductive toxicity, and allergies & immunotoxicities. It’s been helping me make choices between products and I at least feel like I’m doing something good!

3. Shopping Days!

I had a day to myself this week (a whole day!) and took advantage of some quality shopping time. I hit Ulta and Marshalls in Yukon before heading to Nordstrom Rack in OKC on my way to Classen Curve and then ended back up in Yukon (at Target, duh!). It was a really nice day overall and I had fun trying on clothes for the first time in months!

I’ll share more about my purchases next week!

I hope you have some fun things planned this weekend! I’ll see you on Monday!
