My life has been a little hectic lately. I don’t want to complain because there’s so much to be thankful for, but really, last week was ROUGH. My other website, Splendry, suffered some major malfunctions and I spent several days (and nights) in panic-mode. Not only was I spending 18+ hours a day in front of my computer trying to do damage control, I was also up all night because my mind wouldn’t shut off! When I reached the point where there was literally nothing I could do but wait to hear back from others I needed some distractions. And along with trips to Target and bubble baths, window shopping (or, online browsing) and social media scrolling (with intent!) is always one of my go-to distractions.
I’m not talking about spending two hours on Facebook reading vague statuses from people I don’t really know that well, but more finding inspiration in other’s creative pursuits! I’ll open my laptop or grab my phone and just start browsing. Whether it’s scrolling through Instagram and heart-ing beautifully posed product shots (that take hours to set up but look so spontaneous), or pinning outfits on Pinterest, there’s something about seeing beautiful items that can relax my pulse just a bit. (Though sometimes I’ll come across an item that causes it to race!)
A few of my favorite Instagram distractions:
Allyson in Wonderland – an Oklahoma style blogger, Allyson always posts gorgeous shots (also some great travel shots!)
Dean Street Society – Hilary started as a style blogger and then worked her way into a business mentor (for folks like me). Her feed is inspiration on every level!
Frassy – Another blogger who posts some insanely beautiful shots, plus, she lives in Europe (Barcelona and Paris), so obviously I’m obsessed.
Eva Chen – I want few things in life more than I want to be real-life friends with Eva Chen. Once EIC of Lucky Magazine, she’s now head of fashion partnerships at Instagram. She also has one of the cutest babies ever, so if cute babies are your thing, follow pronto. #evachenpose forever.
