Spending a semester in Europe during college was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. Sleeping on trains, taking those cheesy photos where you act like you are holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and of course, showering only when you have a place to sleep for the night (so, not very often.) Luckily, my future sister-in-law at the time, (now present) introduced me to the wonders of baby powder as an alternative to actually washing your hair. Even after I returned to the U.S., this little trick saved me many mornings when I was running late…or just feeling particularly lazy that day. I know you’ve probably heard that you shouldn’t wash your hair every day to keep it healthier (and mine usually looks better) but many people feel a little icky about skipping a daily wash.

Try dry shampoo as an alternative. It’s a better choice than baby powder for all you dark haired girls out there and works really well at dissolving oil. There are many options out there but my favorite by far is Oscar Blandi. I’ve used it for several years now and absolutely adore it. It smells like lemon, dissolves easily (leaving zero residue) and leaves your hair oil free and with more volume. Seriously. I usually get a lot of compliments on my hair on days I use it…which is often. It runs about $11 for a travel size bottle or $19 for a full size. Plus, it lasts a really long time!

When TRESemmé launched their line of dry shampoos not too long ago, I gave it a shot since it was so cheap. It’s an aerosol spray and pretty simple to use. Just spray, let it sit for a couple of minutes, massage it throughout. I wasn’t impressed. I thought it left a greasy feeling residue on my hair, which to me is just as bad as it looking greasy.

So, I’m sticking with Oscar Blandi. Do you have a favorite dry shampoo?

Deodorant. Necessary, but slightly evil. If you are like me and own 16 LBD’s (Little Black Dresses) you know the routine. You shower, put on your deodorant, dry your hair, do your makeup and then finally attempt to wiggle your way into your dress. And there they are. The streaks. Next time, you try another way. You get dressed and then put on your deodorant while then holding your arms up in the air for ten minutes waiting for the deodorant to dry. Success, you think. Then you arrive at your location, catch a glimpse in the mirror and there they are. The streaks…the horror of it all.

Fret not, for I have a solution. Miss Oops Rescue Sponges. They come in packs of two and do an amazing job of removing deodorant marks. Plus, they are about as easy to use as possible. They are available on line and at many stores, usually for around $10 a pack. I’ve had my set for over 3 years and they still work great!

Do you have another easy solution for removing deodorant marks from clothing?
